Earthquake! 28/2/01

What a week! On Wednesday we had a 6.8 earthquake! We're safe (Matt says "shaken, but not stirred") and thought you might enjoy some pictures...

Eeek! Look at some of the cracks in PacMed where Matt Works.
(Hard to see when the images are this small, and not great photos to begin with, but click through to the full size ones and you'll get the idea. These are pretty big, and the building is covered in them. The structure is sound they tell us of course..)

Things got worse the further up the building you went. These are some shots Bosco took of the higher floors where... well, much worse things happened.
The monitors aren't normally on the floor :)

A part of the 13th floor wall basically fell off altogether. Wow I'm glad I wasn't there. Here's where the wall landed...

This is the same hole from the outside. Eeek.

All the Amazonians outside US1 directly after the quake hit. The building was evacuated to check the structure was fully intact. Here's some of the exterior damage:

This is a picture of one of the building tops that fell off in Pioneer Square. The older buildings were much harder hit.

Just opposite the exhibition center - about a minute's walk from Rachael's office

Pioneer Square - check out that hole!

This was a road!

And Starbuck's logo

Buckled pavements (this picture's from Olympia which is south of Seattle and closer to the epicenter)

There's a bunch more images of PacMed on Bosco's website here.
